Remember Yogi?

Posted a few things about her months back.
You can find it here , here, and here.

She no longer runs around the house like if she had a severe case of sugar high, or too much caffeine.
She is now the queen of the castle.

What's next, I don't know. Cats are always a surprise.

Blog EntryWhy PNKY Cafe in Baguio is a great place to dine.Apr 27, '08 11:14 PM
for everyone
Cuz at PNKY Cafe it's great value, and it's not that I'm just being a cheapo, it's great tasting food with a good sized serving!

Just check this out. (click photo for Superman like magnified vision).

The first item is tofu nuggets at PHP 125 (A bit too dry for my taste).
Oh, you'll find all the food photos at Djong's album as I didn't take a single photo up in the mountains. Thanks Djong!
The second item is her Beef it or not at PHP 210.
Jump to the fourth item, which is my huge serving of soft, red Ribeye at PHP 305.(It will be hard to find a ribeye this large and good in Manila without being charged under PHP 500).
The rest of the items are drinks. A diet soda for PHP 30 and strawberry ice tea at PHP 55.
They don't put a price on ambiance and friendly service, but that makes an impact too.  A positive impact in this case =)  It's at times, in the little details.

Now compare it to this meal at restaurant B. (Again, if Superman like magnified vision is needed, just click the photo).
The first item in restaurant B is an American Combo Breakfast meal at PHP 250.
The second item at restaurant B is my American Steak Breakfast at PHP 350.
The third item at restaurant B is Calamares at PHP 190, and it wasn't that great by me.
And beers are at PHP 70 each.
They don't put a price on ambiance and service either at restaurant B, and that is proper as they wouldn't illicit positive feelings from me. "It's at times, in the little details." The table buzzer isn't attended to in reasonable time, and that is just plain blah. Service aside, and just price for the value of the meal;and the meals are great, restaurant B can be expensive, even when I enjoyed the dishes.  PNKY Cafe just wins the cake for me over restaurant B.

PNKY Cafe is cheaper. The taste of the dishes quite elaborate but not too complex.  The servings satisfying, that pigging out to cover for ho-hum taste doesn't become a goal or reason for such a glutton as i can be.

Oh how I enjoyed the meals at PNKY Cafe... we went back.

The first item at our second time at PNKY's was my Meet Super Boink at PHP 170.
The second item was her Chicken Teriyaki at PHP 175.
Her Lemongrass Juice at PHP 55.
My Ice Tea at PHP 40.
Then Hot Chocolate to share for the cold evening at PHP 55, matched with an Apple Pie Ala Mode at PHP 85. MMMMMMMWAH! Everything fantastic and supah delicioso!

PNKY Cafe is at
13 Leonard Wood Road (very near the house didipusrex and I like)
Baguio City

The comfy chair that I haven't used much. Should break it in to my taste.
And lastly just a center piece.

We've been adopted again!

This is Yogi, our newest housemate. She came into our home sometime March of 2007.

I declare that her birthday be the same as mine, but the vet insists that it be the 14th. I disagree and have tampered with her animal records to reflect my preference.

The vet also withdrew from writing down the name we gave her..."Sus, yogi isn't a girly cat name...",  but I hold the animal records, and the ultimate  decision rest upon me =)
According to the vet she is a Calico...a three colored cat.
The vet says, her patterns and color combinations are only found in females.

The rascal is a true street cat. Unlike the other cats that have adopted us, this one is a handful, never running out of energy, and as hard headed as a cocounut.

Anyway, we've got to live with her.
As they say, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

Iba naman pag bumabagyo sa Boracay.
I've seen it packed at peak season. That was good.
I've seen it empty and all to myself. That was good too.
Now I see it under a storm.  Aliw!!!

Last night went to this reggae themed bar named Bombom. I like it! Friendly people, nice atmosphere and drunk people.....including me =)

Signing off,

Mr. Ziggy Marley is coming to town and I'm watching!!!

My, my, I haven't watched a concert by an international artist since Janet Jackson! And that was in 1995! ...Before you guys start with the wise cracks let me just let you know I was forced to watch the concert of Janet. And it wasn't bad at all, mind you.

Strength and will power will then have it that i will run to saGuijo to hopefully catch the album launch of Sino Sikat.  If that does not work...at least reach to buy a CD if there are any left =)

Passed by the Sony showroom at Park Square 1 a few minutes ago, searching for info I could get on the USB car stereo head unit that has been exciting me for a couple of weeks now. The excitement turned into a sad, story. The guys there aren't much help, they would not even show me the user manual of the particular model. It is all I really need to learn what this piece of equipment can do. Anyway, since I was moving around on free time I decided to see what new things they had on the Sony Alpha dslr.

Among the accessories of the Sony Alpha, I found a book for Sony on how to take better pictures. The basics and a bit more really, but never the less, the foundations of most important concepts of photography. I always say, learn the basic concepts by heart, they are the tools that will help you solve problems. Learn them, add to them, and then break them.

Well, there I was leafing through the pages to get a general feel of the book. (I had all the time as the not so helpful guys were not paying attention. I could have probably sneeked in a frap, grabbed a lazy boy and turned on a reading lamp and they wouldn't have even noticed.) After that I went back to parts of the book that i wanted to learn more on. Then I checked out a part of photo books that many authors have a hard time explaining...DOP and hyperfocal distance. This part really tells me if the book is worth as a teaching aid or not. I was not disappointed! I'd recomend it to any starting hobbyist.

I wanted to take the book home! Aside from the chapters which passed my marks, it was beautifully printed too! AND guess WHAT!? There were photos in there by Pikpakbum-er, didipusrex!. The lucky prick got his train photos published...and a photo of "lalapot" as well! My, my, this was getting exciting! On a hunch, I turned to see the cover and there ...beautifully printed on the front cover was his name along with the co-author of the book! Lucky bastard!

He's published! (Well, he's always published, but this is the first piece I see on print and not on email.) Nice piece! Congrats and cheers to didipusrex and co-author! =)

At the moment the book is free... well, under the condition that you buy a Sony Alpha >.<

So, Karlo, when do we mob the place for an impromptu book signing? Hahaa!

On this day a prisoner who fell in love with the jailer's blind daughter was stoned to death and decapitated.

Yep, that's Mister Valentine's story. I am not going to have my head chopped off! Ironic that some believe that to be romantic... or maybe they just don't know about it.

Oh well, Happy Valentine's day folks!

He's been with us for thirty years now. It was given to us when my twin and I were 5 years old. It was the size of an old Peso coin when we received it from my uncle. There used to be two of them but one "miraculously" disappeared according to the household help. We never named it. It still has no name. We've never found a use to name him. As kids we thought; no visible ears, it probably is deaf, why would it need a name? I've heard recently though that they respond to a name. This can be useful as this guy goes on quarterly walks into and around the house, and sometimes goes where he shouldn't. So, a bit too late but i'll have to start calling him something. Turtle. =)

Rants, death threats or other schitzoid comments will not be taken against you.
Should i put a picture up of a man that you can take it out on?

Blog EntryElfish Ant In My CameraAug 21, '06 1:30 PM
for everyone
Once upon a time there was a little elfish ant, with elfish ears, and an elfish green hat. He lived inside my camera. He comes around and shows up from time to time. Yesterday he decided to have a stroll between the top LCD and the viewing window, and prancingly showed me his elfish little grin. I'm really hoping he is squatting alone... the thought of a love nest inside my camera with little elfish ants with green elfish hats porking away at each other is just too perverted for me to take (get a room!). Much more if they are both male. Yesterday, they temporarily cut off the power to my top LCD. I have no idea what sort of fetish that is all about. I just hope they put back the lights after having a good time and not use any cables or wires in there for bondage or whatever crack head ideas they have. ... Dammit! I hope he dies! Guillotine by shutter window! I don't care! I'll clean up the mess after!

This. Means. War!

Yeah baby!

Okay, a bit disappointed by Hard Rock Madrid's New York cut but i was so dizzy i ate it all. It was a bit hard... i did not expect that of this place. Taste wise the strip of fat blended in perfectly with the red meat, just the way i love it to. I miss home grilled Australian slabs... cheaper too!

Do we have this can in the Philippines already?

Found them first in southern France. This one specifically in Saint Tropez. Haven't noticed if they have them in Madrid but they do have those huge kegs, about a foot high, with the server mechanism already, shaped just like this! Cute but most probably hard and heavy to take home. I'd love to have a go at one keg myself though! =D

Gambrinus Fleming, Madrid - Tenderloin, an inch and a half thick, reddish on the inside, 2mm sealed crust on the outside, soft as marshmallows, topped with mustard sauce and cut potatoes on the side.  Orgasmic at first sight, breathless on the second bite. Now, that's what you call dinner!  *faint!*

"Can I have some more?" - Kristen Dunst in Interview With A Vampire

P.S. Yes, i was hungry. But i think i would have said the same thing even if i had been fed five minutes before the adventure.

Blog EntryOn Museums, Laundry and RodentsJun 1, '06 11:33 PM
for everyone

5:09am, Madrid

Museums. Like a good book, you can get wonderfully lost in them. Naturally, as we've all learned. There are good books and bad books. The Museo Del Prado is a book you want to browse through again, and again. It always has something new to show each time you decide to pick it up.

Laundry...without a drier sucks. Shirts are stiffer and pants crease. You need to iron without a drier. Thank you drier inventor. When I find out who you are I'll make sure you know how thankful i am.

Saw my first Chinchilla at a pet store today. It was beautiful! I had always wanted one. I had read about them as a child but found out that trade of the animal to other shores was illegal as they were endangered back then. Now, the Chileans, the Peruanos and the Mexicans have found a way to breed them in captivity for the fur trade and need not touch them in the wild. Because of this their numbers have increased. Yey, to fucking chinchillas! They only cost 99 Euros! I'd rather have them as a pet than see them as fur coats. I was so tempted, but where in hell would i put it in madrid! They need space! My mother would not be too happy if she found out there was another rodent in the house. And the thought of leaving it here after my trip. Cruel. I can't do that. So, i bid it good-bye at the pet store... walked away with squirrel litter bedding pellets for Jerry tucked under an arm, and a book titled, Manual Practico De La Chinchilla instead. I'll get over it. I'm sure.

Blog EntryWatching Live Gigs AgainMay 19, '06 7:19 PM
for everyone
I decided to finally go out and see where my younger brother worked. Nice place, huge, lots of curious things to look at, nice bar (and i mean bar as the fixture between the bartender and the guests), lots of people, Guinness Draught, (Yum!) and a gig! I end up watching a gig! Even in Madrid!

I have to stop being critical though and just enjoy myself. I found myself dissecting the performance, there was a lack of "umph". Pity. Could have been the balance of the sounds. I think they should have given a little more volume to the vocalist. The drummer was smooth and controlled, i just wondered if the mini drum set was theirs or the bars. The lead guitarist was clean, and the base player had me watching in amazement, he made it look so easy. I couldn't help but thinking... how wonderful it would have been if Kat Agarrado of "Sino Sikat?" was on the Mic. I'm sure the guests would have been awe struck.

It seems i will be watching more gigs soon.
saGuijo has spoiled me =)

Thanks for the pint of Guinness Javier.
And you looked decent in your cooking outfit...you looked real? Hahaa!
